FARR 70 Atalanta II

Commissioned by well known Italian businessman and yachtsman Mr. Carlo Puri, and designed by Farr Yacht Design, represents the first project for David Lake Yachting Projects where by project management services were contracted by the builder, Goetz Custom Sailboats. Atalanta II is currently racing in Italy on the IMS circuit and being utilized for family cruising.

Project management services provided were geared to complement Goetz management and design departments and assist the build team.

One of the more interesting aspects of this project was the research, compliance and certification to the Recreational Craft Directive, 94/25 EC.

The design brief calls for a cruiser / racer configuration that will allow the owners to compete in the competitive IMS fleet in Europe and have the luxury of family cruising.

Key features of the design are:

  • Carbon and nomex for the hull and deck vacuum bagged and oven cured.
  • Top quality winch, sail, spar and electronic packages.
  • Custom interior styling to suit the owner's requirements.
  • Removable interior components for racing.
  • Galley equipped with oven and freezer.
  • Owners and guest's heads including showers with hot and cold pressurized water.
  • Autopilot.
  • Flush hatches.
  • Removable anchor retrieval system.

David Lake Yachting Projects has been contracted by the Goetz Custom to provide project management and consulting services with the goals of completing the project on time and on budget.


Locating aft bulkheads

Specific services provided are:

  • Refining the specification to meet the owner's requirements.
  • Oversight of the building schedule.
  • Compliance with CE, ISO, IMO, ORC and other relevant regulations.
  • Equipment specification to include all mechanical, electrical and plumbing components.
  • Equipment review with the builder and the owner's representative.
  • Equipment specification, cost and schedule planning with sub contractors.
  • Systems layout.
