This project called for a complete and thorough refit of a well-used sloop for the new owners. This major refit was completed in seventeen weeks at Little Harbor, Portsmouth RI, and included the complete replacement or overhaul of all critical systems.

Refit Included:

  • Mechanical upgrades included fitting a new generator, rebuilding the top section of the main engine a new fuel delivery with return hoses and filters, new stuffing box and a new engine room ventilation system.
  • Electrical upgrades included rewiring from the batteries and generator to a new distribution panel for 12 and 120 volt service.
  • Fresh and salt-water plumbing systems were redesigned and installed.
  • Spar service included complete stripping, fittings serviced or replaced, standing rigging examined and spar painting.
  • Steering system overhaul to include new cables and an updated autopilot.
  • Sea cocks removed, hull laminates rebuilt and new seacocks fitted.
  • Safety equipment upgraded to ORC CAT 1.
  • Sailing trials to the Caribbean were undertaken with follow up for minor warranty items completed.

David Lake Yachting Projects managed every facet of this refit. Weekly meetings with the owners ensured that even minor details were accounted for during the scheduled time frame.
